Flued Gas Heaters – A Healthy Heating Solution

Gas heating is a safe, fast and convenient way of heating rooms and connected spaces, such as hallways. The term “flued” means that the heater is equipped with a vent that removes emissions, including water vapour, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide, which are created when gas is burnt. The removal of these emissions via a fixed flue pipe ensures that harmful gases and emissions do not remain in the home. When it comes to efficiency, comfort and safety, flued gas heaters are a fantastic choice.

Gasfitting requirements

An Authorised Gasfitter must install all gas heating systems and issue a Gas Certificate for the installation. Gasfitters will check the existing gas pressure for any irregularities before connecting the heater to existing pipe work. If a gas leak is found on the day of installation, the gasfitter must repair the leak before continuing. At Climate, all of our gas heating systems are installed by our Authorised Gasfitters. If a leak is detected, our Gasfitter will notify you of the problem and provide an estimate for the repair before proceeding with the work.

Unflued gas heaters are NOT safe

Unflued gas heaters are not safe – we strongly believe they should be avoided at all costs. Not only do they emit dangerous gases directly into your home, they contribute to dampness and can severely impact your health and wellbeing. Unflued gas heating is not recommended for heating bedrooms or for long periods of use. Given these restrictions, we simply recommend against unflued heating altogether. As such, we have chosen to only sell and install flued gas heaters, which have been proven safe and reliable.

If you’re running an unflued gas heater, consider upgrading as soon as possible – your safety and health depend upon it.

Flued gas heaters available at Climate

We recommend two brands of flued gas heaters – Rinnai Energy Savers and Bonaire Pyrox wall furnaces. Both companies have created excellent systems that are safe and easy to use.

Rinnai Energy Savers

Rinnai’s flued gas heaters are an efficient heating solution for all situations. The inbuilt mechanisms allow them to deliver clean air and their output is so clean that the Asthma Foundation has approved them for use around asthmatics. They can be installed in a variety of environments, from small units and flats, to living rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms in the home, and even in school classrooms and halls. Simple to operate and controlled by a thermostat, they run off natural gas or LPG (bottled gas). A dual timer can be used to program the heater to turn on and off at set times in the day. Rinnai has incorporated certain safety features to ensure that the units are safe for use around children. These include the unit staying cool to the touch and being equipped with a child safety lock.

Bonaire Pyrox Wall Furnaces

These heaters are ideal for warming the larger living areas of your home. Sleek and stylish, they have a neutral-toned flued gas system. They are able to quickly and efficiently heat large living, dining and family areas, while also providing enough heat to warm up adjacent hallways. Bedrooms can be heated with a rear register option. Like Rinnai Energy Savers, they are easy to operate, thermostatically controlled and are cool to the touch. They are a great choice of heating for classrooms, halls and clubrooms.
