Climate Reactive Servicing

Reactive servicing request (breakdowns)

If your plumbing system stops working, is not operating correctly, or if you notice something abnormal, please call us (06 769 6410) right away. If we can’t help you over the phone, we will send a technician to your site to check out the issue. Our aim is to get your system up and running as quickly as we can.

Emergency service callout (afterhours)

If your plumbing system breaks down afterhours, our emergency service callout fee is $270, which covers the first hour of work. For any time worked after the first hour, you will be charged at our normal hourly rate, plus a vehicle service fee and the cost of required parts. Most emergency callouts can be resolved in the first hour or made safe enough for us to return on the next working day.

If we are called out on a Public Holiday, an additional callout fee will be charged to cover our obligation to our tradespeople under the Holidays Act 2003.

Plumbing service invoice

Once your plumbing issue has been resolved, you will be sent an invoice that may include:

  • Labour charges, with a half hour minimum charge and in 15-minute increments thereafter
  • A Vehicle Service Fee, which will vary based on where the service was performed
  • Any parts used
  • A minimum Sundry Item amount to cover: clean up of tools, protective items (e.g. cleaning cloths, sanitiser and gloves), and any minor materials that were needed, such as washers, solvents or lubricants.

When invoicing you we try to be as fair and reasonable as possible. Sometimes, however, we can get it wrong. If you believe you have been overcharged in any way please let us know so we can address the issue.

Climate planned maintenance servicing

Don’t let small issues become big ones

All systems should be serviced regularly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to maintain the efficiency, performance and safety of your plumbing appliance. Regular servicing may also be required to ensure validity of the product warranty.

Routine servicing ensures that your appliances will always serve their functions as and when needed. By routinely servicing your plumbing appliances, small issues can be identified and resolved before they grow larger.

Climate’s maintenance service recommendations

We recommend the following maintenance protocols:

Electric water heating

Electric hot water cylinders require very little maintenance. If you notice any leaks or your water is not hot, please call us (06 769 6410).

Heat pump water heating

Heat pump water heaters need their air filters checked monthly. Every 6 months, the anode rod should be checked and replaced if required, and the tank, heater, and filter should be cleaned. While you can do these maintenance tasks yourself, it pays to have a qualified technician service your system at least once a year to check the PTR valve and ensure the waterways are clear.

Solar water heating

Solar water heating systems require routine maintenance to keep them operating efficiently. Also, from time to time, components may need repair or replacement. Once a year we recommend having a qualified technician service your system.

Point-of-use boiling water

On-tap instant boiling water systems require their cartridge filters to be replaced at least once a year. We can pop around to do this for you or you can purchase the filter from Climate and replace it yourself. Apart from the filter change, these systems are generally maintenance free.

Water cartridge filter and UV sterilisation systems

Climate can replace your cartridge filters and UV sterilisation lamps for you when they are due, liaising with you to carry out your replacements.

Backflow prevention device

You are legally required to have your backflow prevention device tested and maintained every year by a qualified backflow technician who can issue a test report, and then repair and replace components if required. Call us when your device is due for testing (06 769 6410). We can also place you on our maintenance schedule to ensure your inspection is not missed.

Solar pool heating

With no moving parts and durable, proven construction, Heliocol solar pool heating systems don’t require the maintenance costs associated with other types of pool heating systems. System pumps do require a routine maintenance schedule – we are happy to advise you on when your pump should be serviced.

Maintenance Service Request

If your system has not been serviced for a while or you feel that your system is not operating correctly, please call us (06 769 6410) to schedule a maintenance service visit. Alternately, you may use the form to the right to request servicing.

The Climate plumbing asset management system

We have created a comprehensive asset management system that allows us to keep track of all plumbing appliances installed on your property. When we set up a new property, we first document important information about each appliance, including:

  • Type of appliance
  • Date installed
  • Model and serial number
  • Location and site of appliance
  • Any other relevant details

After the initial set up, Climate manages both planned maintenance and reactive servicing. We will recommend how often your appliance should be serviced and then get in touch when the system alerts us of an upcoming service. Should you experience a breakdown, the asset management system helps our technicians provide a speedy resolution by providing immediate access to your information by way of mobile devices connected to our database.

If you have multiple sites, such as rental properties or multiple office locations, we can associate your plumbing appliances (assets) with each site. If your property is sold, the assets will remain linked to the site, providing the new owner with access to this valuable information.

You can keep track too!

Included in Climate’s system is a customer portal. This allows you to manage your assets and view online in real-time the following:

  • A list of all your sites (editable)
  • A database of all your assets recorded at each site
  • Reports that include planned maintenance test results, defects and recommendations
  • Any quotes we have created for you
  • Any jobs we have pending, in progress, completed and invoicedA history of your invoices
  • The customer portal makes it easy to keep your plumbing assets in good working order, while also allowing you to financially and operatively plan for their replacement.

Customer portal setup

If you would like Climate to set up your customer portal so you can manage your plumbing appliance assets, call us today on 06 769 6410. Alternately, use the contact form to the right or stop by our showroom on Leach St. in New Plymouth.
