At Climate, we offer a simple way to heat your swimming pool by using the sun’s energy. You are probably already familiar with the basic concept that makes the system effective – dark materials get warmer in the sun. In this system, panels made up of tiny black tubes are fitted on your roof in groups called arrays or panels. Water from the pool enters these tubes via a feed line. As the water moves through the tubes, it is warmed by heat from the sun. The water is then sent back to your swimming pool by a return line, raising the pool’s water temperature.

While the science behind solar pool heating is straightforward, the entire system is very sophisticated. In-built temperature controls allow you to easily set the target temperature and the system controller does the rest.

Things to consider

You can obtain the maximum effect from your solar pool heating system by making certain changes around your pool area. For example, trimming back trees to give the pool as much sun exposure as possible or having darker coloured pool walls and floor. A pool enclosure can also be used at night to keep heat in.

The size of your solar array will depend upon these factors, pool size and roof attributes such as shape, size, and orientation. Our solar experts will take these factors into consideration when determining the size needed to heat your pool.
